Final Fantasy

Background: Lumi was born into a life she would never know. The child of two Archadean aristocrats, her life could have been one of high society and luxury. She doesn’t remember any of that however, those early childhood memories long since faded. Gone along with her own voice which was taken from her as a toddler as a result of a terrible illness, the first of a string of misfortunes that befell the child before she even had a chance.
Not more than a year after surviving her illness and just as she was regaining her health and learning to adjust to a life without speech, Lumi’s world was turned upside down again, when her family was taken from her in one horrific night. Her family’s home and most of her belongings were taken by the authorities, and Lumi was sent to an orphanage where her silence proved a source of frustration for her keepers and eventually an advantage for the girl herself, as she learned to make her movements as silent as her voice. Her time at that place was rough, but not entirely without benefit. Despite the barrier in communication she was able to learn to read and write in part because she’d already been learning with her parents, playing with blocks as a child.
In addition, some of the more rebellious orphans help her learn to steal and in return she tried her best to show them how to move more quietly. Within a few years, the child had begun sneaking out on her own more and more, and soon she stopped returning to the place entirely. The girl had no illusions about some family coming to adopt her. She understood that she’d be considered ‘damaged goods’ by prospective parents, who mostly wanted infants anyway. From the time she was seven, Lumi began to live her life on the streets of Old Archadia.
Her time on the streets taught her even more than the basic life lessons the orphanage provided. She learned how to collect information simply by acting as a bystander and listening. She learned how to use her hands, feet, and anything nearby as a weapon. At ten, she began sneaking into taverns and listening to stories told by sky pirates, and she knew she didn’t want to spend the rest of her life standing on the ground.
Lumi had always been tall compared to other kids, but by the time she got into her teen years her growth spurt went into full swing. Puberty brought her up to a height of 6ft by the time she turned sixteen, and the illusion of being older and more mature than she was along with a statuesque appearance and features allowed her to get ahead where normally a teenager never could. Add to this a natural intimidation factor as a result of her height and inability to speak, and she was able to get herself onto a crew and proved a valuable asset, working away at her goal of one day owning a ship herself.
Four years ago at the age of 22, she was finally able to acquire her own ship. Haggling was difficult (as most things in her life tended to be) and she couldn’t afford to pay a crew on a regular basis. So the time came that she had to teach herself basic airship maintenance, and how to keep things up and running. Since then she’s been slowly gaining ground both as a mechanic and a pirate, making a name for herself in the most unlikely of ways as a sky shark. Wordless and awesome to behold.

Her body is her main weapon, one which she can use with terrifying skill, however she also has an assortment of other ‘ninja’ style weapons such as smoke bombs and flash grenades, and various small thrown weapons (which she has a lesser degree of skill with).
